A music video that has managed to combine all three aspects
of Amplification, Disjuncture and Illustration is D.A.N.C.E by Justice. In this
music video we see Illustration during the chorus as the writing and symbols on
the t-shirts spell out the chorus. It shows amplification during the beginning
as we see images of people playing the guitar on his t-shirt as we hear the
guitar coming in.
Finally in this music video there are strong aspects of
Disjuncture as we see towards the end with the t-shirt changing colours and
messages such as “internet killed the video stars”. After this we see a cross
and then a triangle with an eye in it which has nothing to do with the lyrics.
Overall I think this music video works well as it manages to
combine Amplification, Disjuncture and Illustration without the viewer being
overloaded with information.
