Research: What is the main function of a music video

The main purpose of a music video is to help promote the artists music. It adds an extra dimension rather than just the music itself. Many famous pop artists (such as Cheryl Cole) use it as a tool to show off their good looks which makes you want to watch the music video and whilst you watch it the song is getting stuck in your head. It Also gives a chance for the musician to show off any other talents they may have such as dancing. Music videos also help to expose an artist’s song as if you do not have a music video for your song chances are it’s not going to get played or shared on social networking sites such as YouTube and it will not get played on music channels such as MTV Base, Kiss 100 etc etc
