I circled a mixtape cover with songs from Jay Z and 9th Wonder called "American Gangster" because the cover reflects on the title. For example, the title "American Gangster" is taken from the film of the same name that explores the life of Frank Lucas, a heroin dealer who operated in Harlem, New York during the late 60's, early 70's. I like the way the cover makes Jay Z look superior with a city (New York, I'm guessing) pictured behind him as if he was Frank Lucas during his drug dealing reign. Also the font adds a very classy effect to the cover. The sepia effect also adds a very old look to it, adding a sense of darkness to it. The sepia effect is defiantly something I would like to use for the background of my digipak and magazine advert. Overall, I've been inspired to take elements of Juvenile's "Juvie Tuesday" mixtape for my digipak as a whole.
JUVENILE - JUVIE TUESDAYS
I really like the use of effects and how it's so appealing. With photoshop I'm sure I'll be able to use this but make it my own. The use of colour brings out the artist. The splattered paint effect makes it look artistic. The color and font used tells the audience that upbeat tracks are most likely to be included. The artist himself "Juvenile" is featured as we can see a close up of his face. The font used is very "funky" and bold.
